Counseling for Children and Teens in Sacramento
Are you worried about your child?
Maybe you have read the books, watched the videos, and tried all the parenting techniques but still feel frustrated. You are tired of temper tantrums, phone calls from school, and falling grades. Maybe your child is socially awkward, shy, and lacks confidence. Perhaps you are feeling like a failed parent, unable to see the light.

FAQs:
What do the therapy sessions look like?
Children and teen counseling looks different from adult therapy. I use play therapy techniques along with CBT, with young children. Children's vocabulary is limited at that age. They process their emotions and resolve their issues through play. I incorporate CBT techniques to help children and teens identify their issues and change their thought processes to achieve goals.
How long does my child/teen need to be in therapy?
You will notice the difference in 2-3 months if they use their tools consistently. Having a safe place to process their feelings and talk about what's bothering them facilitates change.
Would I be involved in therapy as a parent?
I work collaboratively with parents of young children to ensure faster progress. I will inform you about reinforcing and practicing evidence based tools at home. For teens, I involve parents on an as-needed basis. We could schedule a family session depending on the need. I strongly believe that children and teens need parental support to facilitate progress.

Would you collaborate with our child's psychiatrist and school?
I am willing to do case management with a psychiatrist, school teacher, or school counselor if needed. There would be an extra charge if my time commitment is significant (above 30 minutes).
